#FOCUSON: Trademarc

Trademarc is…
- An extremely enthusiastic and dedicated DJ, music producer, sound engineer and online pc gamer. I'm also pretty kak at golf.

I started DJing…
- In 2003. I was 12 years old. During a lengthy family trip to the UK, my cousin taught me all I needed to know about mixing dance music on vinyl. My first club gig was in 2009, at Groove Cafe in Edenvale.

Outside of DJ-ing, I do...
- Waaaay too much! Everything from mastering music for clients, to washing the dishes at home.

My journey in the SA Dance Music industry has...
... been incredible. I never expected to be where I am today. I've been influenced positively by so many incredible artists throughout my career. I've made some amazing friends too. There are some great people in the South African music industry.

I’d like to see club nights move towards...
Focusing more on the music, primarily. We also need to provide those talented individuals, who help make that music be heard in the best way, with more opportunity to shine through and be heard.

Electronic music in 2030 looks like…
- a mashup of sounds, from more emulated plugins of our favourite hardware synths and musical instruments of today.

Artists to look out for…
- the ones who stand out. There are too many producers who don't find their own lane. My good friend Avi Subban, producer TommyV and vocalist Apple Gule are all slaying at the moment. Even the established, long-time brother of mine, Kyle Watson, is making big steps in his career overseas these days, he's incredibly inspirational.

Plans for the final stretch of 2018 are…
- mainly to release more of my own music. Also, there are some crazy big festivals and club night's coming up, so I should probably start sleeping now!
